Car Audio Capacitors- How They Can Improve Your Car Audio’s Sound Quality

Before venturing deeper into the topic, we need to know what a car audio capacitor is. Capacitors are basically like any other car battery, which store electrical energy but do not produce any of their own. The sole purpose of capacitors is to store power and release it when the car amplifier asks for it. Now that we are clear about a car capacitor’s function and purpose, we need to know whether we actually need it for our car or not.

This is a very common question among many car audio freaks. For knowing the answer to the question, we need to know what kind of a system the car has. Many of us install high powered audio systems in our car without having the knowledge whether the car will be able to handle it or not. Usually not many cars are equipped to handle high powered systems and that is when the need of a capacitor comes to the scene. Car owner’s who have upgraded their audio systems to high powered ones, but haven’t installed a capacitor; often complain of headlight dimming while playing music and bass. It is noticed that when the head lights are turned off, the car stereo suddenly sounds louder. Here, a car capacitor comes to the rescue, as it provides the amplifier the required power it needs to keep running capably.

Whenever you decide to install a car capacitor, make sure that you choose the right capacitor size. As car capacitors come in different sizes, it is always recommended to choose a bigger capacitor size, so that your car is able to store more power and deliver it when really needed. The biggest and the most important reason to install car audio capacitors is that they improve your car amplifier performance and also reduce the problem of dimming headlights.
